Rhonda Brady

A hurdler and sprinter, Rhonda Brady competed in the 1976 Olympics while still a student at Calumet High School in Gary, Indiana. She was AAU Junior Champion in the 100 hurdles in 1975-77. She later ran track for Arizona State and Tennessee State and represented the Chicago State Track Club. After graduating from Tennessee State, Brady earned a masters’ degree in biological sciences from Purdue. She was the 1976 US Olympic Trial champion in the 100 metre hurdles and represented the US three times in dual meets against the Soviet Union.

Brady later became a track coach in the Gary, Indiana area, coaching at Gary Roosevelt HS, Gary Lew Wallace HS, and Wheeler HS. Brady earned numerous honors as a high school track coach, being named Indiana Association of Track and Cross-Country Coaches Coach-of-the-Year in 1993 and 1994, and Northwestern Conference Girls Track and Field Coach-of-the-Year from 1992-98. She was named to the Indiana Association of Track and Cross-Country Coaches Hall of Fame and is a member of the Calumet High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
