Although she had a good range from long sprints to the mile, Robin Campbell was primarily known as an 800 metre runner. She was TAC Champion in the 800 in 1983, although she had won two AAU indoor titles in the unusual combination of the 440 yards in 1975 and the mile in 1974. She competed for the US numerous times in international dual meets. At the Universiade, she won a silver medal in 1983 in the 800, and a silver in 1981 on the 4×400 relay. She competed at the first World Athletics Championships in 1983, placing fifth in the 800. Campbell ran for Florida, Stanford, San Jose State, and the Puma Track Club.
