Biography

Janet Dicks was a weight thrower for East Stroudsburg State College and the Harrisburg Athletic Association. She was the US Olympic Trials champion in 1952 with both the shot and discus, but competed only in the shot put at the Olympic Games. Dicks won three AAU titles, the 1952 shot put (which doubled as the Olympic Trials), and the 1952-53 discus throw. A versatile thrower, she was also on the podium at the AAU Meet in 1951 in the discus throw (third), 1952 with the javelin (second), and 1954 with the discus (second).

Personal Bests: SP – 39-8¼ light imp. [12.09] (1952); DT – 123-2 [37.54] (1953).
