Cynthea Rhodes was a triple jumper who competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Rhodes competed in college initially at the University of Kansas, then spent a year at Ranger Junior College, before finishing at the University of Texas. Rhodes was second at the 1991 NCAA Meet. She won the 1996 USA Olympic Trials, and the 1997 US Indoor title. Internationally she competed at the 1997 World Championships and placed fifth at the 1998 Goodwill Games. In the American rankings, Rhodes was #1 in 1997, #2 in 1995-96 and 1998, and #3 in 1993-94.
Rhodes later obtained an MBA in 2003, and became the corporate human resource manager for The Home Depot. She also served as a volunteer on the Longhorn Athletics Advisory Council. Rhodes was inducted into the Longhorn Women’s Hall of Honor.
