Esther Stroy made the 1968 Olympic Team when she was only 15-years-old, still attending Spingarn High School in Washington, DC. She competed at the 1971 Pan-American Games, winning a bronze medal in the 200, and a bronze medal in the 4x400 relay. Stroy won two AAU indoor championships, the 220 yards in 1971-72. She represented Sports International and Howard University, but never competed for Howard. She later became a coach and recruiter at Stanford, before returning to the Washington area, where she coached club track teams. She married Daniel Harper, a Vietnam veteran who received a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for his heroism in action.
Personal Bests: 100 – 11.5 (1972); 200 – 23.4 (1972); 400 – 53.5 (1968).
