Ahearn’s date of birth and his full given name is a matter of some dispute. We have found extensive official records which often list the DOB as 12 April 1887, but 1886, 1888, and 1892 are also seen. Ahearn appears to have used 1888 later in life officially, but baptismal records support 1887 as the year of birth which is what we are using. In addition, his given name is listed variably in official sources (passport applications, WW1 draft registration, Social Security records) as Daniel William, Daniel Francis, and Daniel Frank. We have kept Daniel William, listing Daniel Francis/Frank as an other name, but it could be that Daniel Francis is the proper full given name.
