Doug Brown was mainly a steeplechaser, who ran for the University of Tennessee and later, Athletics West. He competed five times internationally for the US – three Olympic teams, a 7th in the steeple at the 1973 Universiade, and in the 1983 International Cross-Country Championship. He won the NCAA steeplechase in 1973-74 and was TAC champion in 1973 and 1980. Brown continued to run in the later 1970s and early 1980s and made the theoretical 1980 US Olympic team, then representing Athletics West.
Personal Bests: 1500 – 3:45.4 (1978); Mile – 4:03.5 (1976); 2 miles – 8:41.4i (1973); 5000 – 13:33.9 (1978); 10000 – 27:54.19 (1978); 3000S – 8:19.29 (1978).
