Casey Carrigan made the 1968 Olympic team as a pole vaulter while still in high school. Great things were expected of him but never fully materialized. He placed 3rd at the AAU Championships in 1968-69 and his best finish for Stanford at the NCAAs was =4th in 1970. He was ranked #1 in the US in 1974, but an Achilles’ tendon injury hampered his chances of making the 1976 Olympic team. He retired from competition that year and later became a firefighter, eventually becoming a captain with the Long Beach Fire Department.
Personal Best: PV – 5.45 (17-10½) (1975).
