Con Cochran of Mississippi A&M won the NCAA 440y in 1922 and 1923. He ran the lead-off leg for the U.S. quartet which set a new world record in the 1,600m relay at the Paris Olympics. After graduation, he represented the Olympic Club of San Francisco. Twenty-four years later, his younger brother, Roy, won a gold medal in the same event, as well as one in the 400m hurdles.
