Arthur Dearborn attended Wesleyan University, where he captained the football and track teams. In 1907, Dearborn finished second in the AAU discus and also in the AAU Greek-style discus throw, the only time that event was held at the national championships. He later became a coach at Wesleyan and later at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. He spent several years as chairman of the house committee of the Boston AA. He eventually became an insurance broker although during World War II he served as a sergeant with an French ammunition train.
