Tony Dees was a high hurdler who won a silver medal in the 110 hurdles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Dees ran in college at the University of Mississippi. He also competed in the high hurdles at the 1993 and 1999 World Championships, making both finals but just missing a medal in 1999 when he finished fourth. Dees was a five-time US Champion indoors in the 60 metre hurdles, and won bronze medals in the 60 hurdles at the 1993 and 1997 World Indoors. He was gold medalist in the 4x100 relay at the 1989 World Cup and the 1991 Universiade, and won a silver medal in the high hurdles at the 1990 Goodwill Games. Dees led the 1991 world list with 13.05 for the 110 hurdles and was ranked #2 in the world that year. He was also world ranked #3 in 1992-93. In 2001 Dees received a lifetime suspension by the IAAF after two positive tests for nandrolone metabolites.
Dees later graduated from Turabo University in Puerto Rico. He became a high school cross-country and track coach. Dees was inducted into the Ole Miss Track Hall of Fame. He has had a hobby of drag racing and has his own dragster.
