Mike Devaney won six different AAU championships – 1917 880 y, 1915 indoor 2-miles, and the steeplechase in 1916, 1919, and 1921-22. Devaney ran the steeplechase at both the 1920 and 1924 Olympics, and also competed in the 3,000 metre team race in 1920. He later became a long-time coach of the Millrose Athletic Association.
