Apart from Jim Thorpe, Jim Donahue of the Los Angeles AC was the leading U.S. all-round athlete at the 1912 Olympics. After his second-place performance in the pentathlon, he placed fourth in the decathlon – actually third and fifth if Thorpe’s scores are included. Donahue was initially a very productive realtor in the Los Angeles area, selling the block on Wilshire Boulevard on which The May Company was built. He later spent much of his life as a treasurer for the Wright Aeronautical Corp. of Paterson, New Jersey.
Personal Bests: HJ – 6-0 (1.83) (1912); Dec – 5701 (1912).
