Harry Grumpelt was AAU high jump champion in 1911. He also placed second in 1908, 1910, and 1912, and was third in 1914. He was AAU indoor high jump champion in 1910. Grumpelt worked as an accountant, for many years with the New York Public Library, and later in life with Arthur Young & Co. He married the former Helen Crockett in June 1907. They lived in northern New Jersey and had three children, two girls and a boy.
