Terrance Herrington was a middle-distance runner who ran at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Herrington won a silver medal at the 1995 Pan American Games and competed at the World Championships in 1991, 1993, and 1995, in addition to the 1991 World Indoor Championships. Herrington ran in college at Clemson University, earning All-American honors four times and winning five ACC titles. He ran the anchor leg for Clemson in their winning 4x800 team at the 1989 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Herrington won USA titles in the 1,500 in 1989, 1991, and 1994. He also added bronze medals at the USA nationals in 1992, which doubled as the Olympic Trials, and 1995. Herrington was inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2010, his hometown track at Byerly Park in Hartsville, South Carolina was renamed the Terrance Herrington Track. In 2002 he was named to the ACC’s 50-Year Anniversary track teams.
