Ernest Koehler finished third in the AAU 50 km. walk in 1931, 1934, and 1936. Koehler was born in Germany, but came to the US as a youth. He competed for the German-American AC in Queens, New York. Koehler made the Olympic team by only one second over John Deni at the 1936 AAU race in Cincinnati.
