Bob Likins won the NCAA javelin throw in 1946-47, competing for San Jose State. After high school he enrolled at Southern Cal, but during World War II served in the maritime service. When the war ended he finished school at San Jose State.
Likins became the athletic director for the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla. From 1951-60 he worked for various Keyser Industries and then was briefly with Arthur Young & Co. until he was forced to retire due to illness.
