Fred Luke was AAU javelin champion in 1972 and 1976. He attended the University of Washington but his best finish at the NCAAs was sixth in 1967. He later competed for Club Northwest. Luke graduated from college with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He continued to compete in later life, in masters’ competition, and also coached throws at Archbishop Murray High School and then Northwest University, both in Washington State.
