Louis Madeira competed for the University of Pennsylvania and the Madeira family had a long line of Penn alumni. While running at track at Penn and graduating in 1914, Madeira had two cousins who were also starring on Penn sports teams – Edward Madeira was 1913 class president and rowed crew, while Crawford Madeira was in the class of 1916 and competed on the football, soccer, and crew teams. Louis Madeira’s top finish at a major event was fourth at the 1913 IC4A mile.
