Hugh Maguire finished second in the 1912 Eastern Olympic Trial 10K, and was selected for the Olympic Team based on that race. Maguire was born in Paterson, New Jersey, but settled near Boston. He ran for the North Attleboro AC and was the owner of the Stoughton Diner, in a Boston suburb. He eventually retired to Fort Lauderdale, where he died.
