Biography

Albert Mangan of the Knickerbocker AC won the 1937 AAU 50 km. walk. He finished second in that event in 1936, which qualified him for the Olympic team. Mangan also placed sixth in the AAU 3 km walk in 1938. He was a native of Lowell, Massachusetts, living and dying there, and spent many years as the athletic director at Lowell High School. His son became a star runner at Lowell High School and then at the University of Massachusetts.
