Robert Maxwell, of Pomona College and the Los Angeles AC, won the AAU 220y hurdles in 1927 and 1930-31. Maxwell was an all-around hurdler. His other AAU finishes in the hurdles included fourth in the 1926 high hurdles and 1928 intermediates, and second in the 220 low hurdles in 1926 and 1928. He was ranked in the US top 20 list for the 110 hurdles five times, from 1924-27 and 1930.
