William Moloney, of the University of Chicago, qualified for the final of the 1900 Olympic 400 metres, but refused to compete because the event was contested on a Sunday. Moloney’s father was Maurice Moloney, former Illinois Attorney General. William Moloney’s brother, [Fred]/athletes/78800) also competed at the 1900 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the high hurdles.
