Conrad Nightingale

A steeplechaser, Conrad Nightingale finished second in 1967 at the AAU Meet and the Pan American Games. He was also third in the 1968 AAUs. He competed for Kansas State and the Halstead Track Club. He was inducted as a member of the Halstead High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

After college Nightingale attended veterinary school at Kansas State, and started his medical career at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He later started Hill Country Veterinary Hospital in Bandera County, Texas. Nightingale specialized in equine treatment, and in 2002 was named Texas’s Equine Practitioner of the Year. He was one of the first veterinarians in the state to perform arthroscopic surgery on horses. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Kerrville Area Medical Association, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. In 1973, Nightingale was named Bandera County Rabies Control Officer, a position he held for over 40 years.

Personal Bests: Mile – 4:00.9 (1966); Steeplechase – 8:38.2 (1972); 2 miles – 8:58.8 (1965); 5K – 13:56.6 (1969).
