John Oxley competed the Chicago AA. He never placed at the IC4A or the AAU meet. Oxley graduated from Coe College in Iowa but then did two years of study at the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale. During World War I he served as athletic director at Camp Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan. After the war he worked with Noble Brothers of Gibson City, Illinois and then with the Morris Seed & Grain Company in Morris, Illinois. In November 1925 Oxley was killed while driving his car, when he collided with a train.
