Neil Patterson won the AAU high jump in 1906, after finishing third in 1905 in that event. He also won the 1908 Central Olympic Trials in the high jump. Patterson was also a solid high hurdler, twice ranking in the US top 25 lists (1905-06). In World War I Patterson served in the Signal Corps. After the war he became a real estate broker.
