Carl Ring finished fourth in the 1928 AAU high hurdles, which doubled as the 1928 Olympic Trials. Ring also placed fifth in the 110 hurdles at the 1929 AAU Meet. He competed for the University of Maine and the NYAC. Ring served in the US Army from 1931-36, leaving as a lieutenant.
