Running for Princeton, Rupert Thomas won the IC4A 100y in 1912, after placing fourth in 1911. After college Thomas earned a law degree from Columbia in 1916. He served in World War I as a field artillery officer. After the war Thomas joined the law firm of Winthrop and Stimson. He was with them until he became chief counsel for the Eastern Region of the Tidewater Association Oil Company, a post he held until his retirement.
