Although Delos Thurber was a 6-7½ (2.02) high jumper, his performances tended to be overshadowed by the record-breaking feats of his contemporaries, Corny Johnson and Dave Albritton. He never won a major domestic championship, at the NCAA Championships he finished fourth in 1936 and then third in 1937 and 1938. After his graduation from Southern Cal he became an airline pilot in the Philippines.
Personal Best: HJ – 2.019 (1936).
