Frank Wendling finished third at the Boston Marathon in 1924, qualifying him for the Olympic Team. Wendling was from Buffalo, New York where he competed for the Knights of Columbus. In May 1925 he won the Buffalo Marathon, defeating Whitey Michelsen and Clarence DeMar, who placed second and third. His only other major top 10 finish was a 10th at Boston in 1925.
