Anton Gustafsson won a bronze medal in tug-of-war at the 1906 Athina Olympics. The Swedish team lost its opening match to the Greek team, but then defeated Austria for the bronze medal. Gustafsson was best known in Sweden as a weight thrower and weightlifter, but he did not compete in either sport in 1906, for unknown reasons. He was Swedish champion in the shot put, both hands, in 1905-07, and Swedish weightlifting champion in 1905-06. He emigrated to and later settled in the United States.
