Enrico Bruna holds the rare distinction as a rower of having won three gold medals at the same Olympics, although the 1906 Olympics were also the only occasion were the coxed pairs were held over both 1 km and 1 mile. Bruna’s career was fairly long, winning the European Championships in the coxed pairs in 1911 (with Ercole Olgeni) and the coxed fours at the 1919 Inter-Allied Games in Paris. Bruna died only two years later, aged 40.
