Inger Bjørnbakken

Inger Bjørnbakken was an Alpine skier who competed in slalom and giant slalom at the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Winter Games. Bjørnbakken’s greatest sporting achievement came at the 1958 World Championships when she won gold in slalom, for which she was awarded the Holmenkollen Medal.

Bjørnbakken won the Holmenkollen Kandahar in 1955, the first of her seven victories at that event. She won the 1957 Harriman Cup in the United States and brought home eight Norwegian titles, three in slalom, two each in giant slalom and combined, and one in downhill. By career Bjørbbakken worked at a telephone exchange in Stabekk.
