Biography

Frances Claudet was a Canadian figure skater who competed at national and international events in the early 1930s. In 1931 Claudet and partner Chauncey Bangs won the pairs title at the Canadian championships, with the duo also finishing second at the North American championships. She had more success at the North American championships that year by winning gold in the fours with Kathleen Lopdell, Melville Rogers, and Guy Owen. Claudet and Bangs skated in the mixed pairs at the 1932 Lake Placid Olympics where they finished sixth. Shortly after the Olympics the pair finished fifth at the World Championships in Montréal. Claudet was later part of the famous touring show known as the Ice Follies, where she performed at multiple venues across North America including Madison Square Garden.
