Regina Häusl

Alpine skier Regina Häusl was a member of the German team at the 1992 Albertville, 1998 Nagano and 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Her best result was an unfortunate fourth place in the super G event at Nagano. At the 1992 Youth World Championships she won two gold medals. In 2000, she won the overall downhill title at the Alpine Skiing World Cup as her career highlight. Remarkably, she won it without winning a race that season, but performed excellently with five second places and several more top-ten-results that helped her lift the title.

In total, Häusl won five national titles. She won the downhill in 1996, and 1998-99, and super G in 1996 and 1999. In 2013, she married alpine skiing coach Frank Leins but did not change her name. Häusl was employed by the Federal Border Guard.
