Biography

Sharon Jones was a British ice dancer who competed at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics alongside Paul Askham, where they finished 13th. Jones and Askham were British Champions from 1986-89, after finishing second in 1985 and third in 1984. They competed at five World Championships, from 1985-89, with a best finish of ninth in 1989. They also competed in five European Championships in the same period, finishing sixth in 1989.

Jones married Steve Baker, a former pairs skater who competed at the 1976 World Junior Championships. Their son, Jean-Luc Baker, won the 2014 World Junior Championship in ice dance, alongside Kaitlin Hawayek of the United States, and he competed at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics with Hawayek. Jones and her family settled in the United States where they coached and taught figure skating in Seattle.
