Biography

Mongolian sportswoman Tsedenjavyn Lkhamjav was an all-round athlete who competed in volleyball, cycling, athletics, and speed skating. It was in the latter that Lkhamjav had the most success, with her competing at both the World Championships and the Olympics. In the early 1960s she represented Mongolia at three consecutive editions of the World All-Round Speed Skating Championships, earning herself a place on the Olympic team. At the 1964 Innsbruck Games she competed in the 1,000 and 3,000 metres, finishing 24th and 20th, respectively. Back home in Mongolia she was a nine-time national champion and set more than 30 national records. Lkhamjav was honoured multiple times, including being bestowed with the People’s Revolution Anniversary Medal, the Order of Military Merit, and the title of Honoured Athlete of Mongolia.

Personal Bests: 500 – 47.5 (1964); 1000 – 1:38.8 (1964); 1500 – 2:35.4 (1963); 3000 – 5:27.4 (1964).
