East German speed skater Natascha Liebknecht from East Berlin competed at the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics, finishing 20th in the 500 metres and 17th in the 1,000 metres. In 1961 she placed fourth at the East German All-Around Championships. Natascha was the daughter of architect Kurt Liebknecht, who was a nephew of the well-known co-founder of the German Communist Party KPD Karl Liebknecht, who was murdered in 1919.
