Kriste Porter competed in aerials freestyle at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. She also competed at the 1993 World Championships, which came only six weeks after dislocating her left elbow, winning bronze medals in both aerials and combined. Porter started out doing ballet freestyle, competing in that event at the 1990 US Championships when she was only 15-years-old. She came close to making the US team for the 1992 Winter Olympics, and was fourth overall in World Cup Combined in her first season on the circuit, 1990. Porter was also an avid golfer in her spare time.
