Austrian figure skater Hedy Stenuf skated for her home country at the 1935 World Championships and finished fourth. She also placed third at the Austrian nationals. At the 1936 nationals she was second and at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Winter Olympics finished sixth. The same year she represented France at the Europeans, finishing sixth.
In 1937, Stenuf came fourth at both the European and World Championships, again representing France. The Stenuf family then moved to the United States in March 1937. Her father had become a naturalized citizen, but unfortunately, a new law required that children of a naturalized citizen must undergo three years of residence in the United States before they become citizens.
From 1938 Stenuf represented the United States and won a bronze medal at the World Championships. The following year she added the silver medal. In 1940 she won another silver at the US nationals. Stenuf turned professional later that year. After her professional skating career wound down, she turned to coaching and had her own skating studio based in Denver, Colorado in the 1950s.
