A younger sister of 1924 Winter Olympic skier Thoralf Strømstad, Nora Strømstad had a long skiing career, competing in both alpine and cross-country skiing. In 1946, at the age of 37, she was still competing in alpine skiing, and was also active in athletics and handball. Her twin sister Torborg was also a skilled skier. The Strømstad twins also practiced ski jumping, and did several exhibitions together in the 1930s.
