Dorothy Surgenor, born Dorothy Lynch, was the least experienced skier on the 1956 Winter Olympic team. Further, she had only recently recovered from a broken hip in 1955 when she made the Olympic team. She skied downhill and slalom at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics. Surgenor grew up skiing in the Pacific Northwest. She later married Earl Ronning, eventually settling in Chandler, Arizona.
