Andrea Gaudenzi

Andrea Gaudenzi was the best Italian tennis player in the 1990s. A clay court specialist, he reached his best world ranking of #18 in February 1995. Gaudenzi had been a junior star, winning the 1990 junior titles at Roland Garros and the US Open. Gaudenzi won three singles titles on the professional circuit – at Casablanca in 1998, and Båstad and Sankt Polten in 2001. He added two doubles titles, at Milano in 1996 and Casablanca in 1998. His best finish at a major was reaching the fourth round in 1994 at Roland Garros.

Gaudenzi competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in both singles and doubles. He also played on the Italian Davis Cup team for six years, playing 33 matches, with 14 singles and 5 doubles wins. He helped Italy reach the Davis Cup final in 1998 where they lost to Sweden, after Gaudenzi was forced to default with a shoulder injury. He retired from his tennis career in 2003.

Gaudenzi went on to graduate in law from the University of Bologna, and became a sports manager and sports commentator, later moving to London, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer at Musixmatch. He later co-founder and became Chief Marketing Officer at Soldo, a multi-user expense account company. Gaudenzi also served as a board member with ATP Media. In October 2019 he was named Executive Chairman of the men’s ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour.
