Athlete Susanne Pumper was Austrian champion in 1,500 metres (2000, 2003-2007), 5,000 metres (1996-1999, 2001, 2005), 10,000 metres (1993, 1997-2002, 2005), 10 km road running (2007), half marathon (2004, 2006), marathon (2006, 2010), and cross country (1993,1998). She competed in the 5,000 metres at the 2000 Sydney Olympics but was eliminated in the heats. In 2005, she won a silver medal at the European Indoor Championships over 3,000 metres.
In 2008, it became known that Pumper was tested positive for EPO and was retroactively banned for two years. In 2011, testimony from former triathlete Lisa Hütthaler led to the initiation of renewed doping proceedings against Pumper. Hütthaler had confessed to selling Pumper 20,000 units of EPO and 30,000 units of Dynepo in October 2008.
She was later proved to have obtained EPO during 2008, at the time her ban was ongoing. This resulted in disqualification of all her times in 2010 and 2011 (including two national marathon titles) and an eight-year ban from competition.
Personal Best: 5000 – 15:10.54 (2001).
