Jerzy Bardziński was a landowner and cavalry career officer in the Polish army. After attending school in Krakow and Warszawa, he completed a course in political economy at Oxford and the School of cavalry in Tver. Subsequently, he studied agriculture at the Jagiellonian University. In addition to his native language Polish, Bardziński was fluent in Russian, French, English and German. He joined the Army when Poland regained independence after World War I and participated in the Polish–Soviet War as a cavalry officer. As an officer of the 1st Regiment of Cavalry he was assigned to the General Staff in 1923-24. During this time, he served as a military attaché in London. For his services he was awarded several high decorations. During the transfer to the reserve he was sent to the 1928 St. Moritz Winter Olympics, together with other officers of the II. Division. Bardziński died only five years after his Olympic appearance at the age of 40.
