Biography

John Bauer graduated from Anoka High School in Minnesota, where he competed in wrestling and was a member of the jazz band. He later attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1997. In addition to his three Winter Olympic appearances, Bauer competed at five World Championships. In 1996 he won four races at the US National Championships, only the second skier to sweep all the events at the nationals. He has twice won the Finlandia Award from US Skiing for his role in promoting the sport.
