Austrian bobsledder Heinrich Bergmüller was a crew member of the four-men bob Austria I in the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics. They finished fourth eventually. Bergmüller later became a well-known fitness coach. At the end of the 1980s he coached the Austrian men’s national ski team, and with the great success of Hermann Maier, Bergmüller’s reputation grew.
As a trainer, coach, performance diagnostician and expert in applied training methodology, Bergmüller developed from “Schinder-Heini” to the supervisor who cared for the bodies of his athletes and patients with enormous meticulousness, a fair amount of fanaticism and, above all, with an attention to the individual muscle metabolism level and performance in a correctly dosed training programmes. The so-called “Bergmüller Method” helped professional athletes, amateur athletes, and rehabilitation patients alike to achieve their goals.
