Scott Bjugstad played for his hometown University of Minnesota from 1980-83. He was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in the ninth round of the 1981 NHL draft. Bjugstad eventually played 10 years in the NHL as a journeyman, starting with the North Stars, but later playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings. However, he bounced up and down to the minors, playing in the AHL and IHL with the Springfield Indians, Salt Lake Golden Eagles, Kalamazoo Wings, New Haven Nighthawks, Houston Aeros, and the Phoenix Roadrunners.
