Gino Burrini, at the time of its birth Pelugo was a fraction of Vigo Rendena, an independent municipality, subsequently Vigo Rendena became a fraction of Porte di Rendena, while Pelugo became an independent municipality, won four Italian national titles, three in a row in giant slalom (1956-58) and one in downhill in 1956. In the 1956 Olympic downhill at Cortina d’Ampezzo he placed sixth as the best Italian, also finishing 10th in the giant slalom. At the 1954 World Championships in Åre, Burrini placed 12th in the downhill and he was 18th in 1958 at Badgastein.
With his brother Bruno, Gino Burrini was one of the most important sports symbols of Madonna di Campiglio, first as a skier and then as a ski teacher.
