Wellington Burtnett was from Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attended Boston College, making All-America there in 1952 and 1953, and captaining the hockey team in his senior year. The 1956 Olympic Winter Games were his only international experience. But Burtnett continued to play hockey in several old-timer hockey leagues in the Boston area throughout his life. He was inducted into both the Winchester High School Hall of Fame and the Boston College Hall of Fame.
